Prayer for my Children and Grandchildren

Mother of Perpetual Help, you are mother of us all. I know your deepest desire is to lead all people to your son, Jesus. I am saddened that so many no longer attend Sunday Mass - even some of my own children and grandchildren are among them! Touch their hearts. Lead them back to the practice of their faith so that

they might once again hear the Gospel message and receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

I see so much goodness in all our young people, but the tendency towards selfishness

and greed can be so strong. We all need the grace and strength of Jesus in the Eucharist. 

​

Blessed Mother, I know that you too worried about your Son, Jesus. When he was a boy, lost in the temple,

he was already being challenged. It would have been so easy for Jesus to have become self-centered and proud. He chose instead to return home and to humbly submit himself to the authority of his earthly parents. 

​

As a man, in his public ministry, he saw how the "rich young man" was controlled by his own attachment

to material goods. How much your prayers for Jesus must have helped him. As he grew in wisdom, strength,

and knowledge, his own desire was to lead people away from selfishness and toward a greater concern

for their brothers and sisters. 

​

Mother of Perpetual Help, I am confident you will hear my prayer and bring back to the fold those who have wandered away - especially my children and grandchildren. 

​

Help me to trust in your loving presence. As you guide all young people in their daily lives, assist them in their struggle to choose their vocation and to live their lives in faithfulness to the gospel values your Son proclaimed.

I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
