As we prepare to celebrate this feast, we remember St. Gerard Majella, the beloved “Mother’s Saint,” especially revered by expectant mothers, children, and the unborn.

This year, as we celebrate the feast of St. Gerard Majella, one of the most loved and popular of all the Redemptorist saints, we prepare for this special occasion through a Triduum of prayer and reflection. The Triduum holds particular significance this year, as it coincides with the Jubilee Year of Hope in the Catholic Church, the Year of Mission in the life of the Redemptorist Congregation, and the approaching tricentenary of St. Gerard’s birth on April 6, 1726.

During the three days of the Triduum, Fr. Ivel Mendanha, CSsR, General Consultor, will lead us in reflection on the following themes:

Finally, on the feast day, we will reflect on St. Gerard Majella: A Pilgrim Missionary of Hope in the Footsteps of the Redeemer.

As we prepare to celebrate this feast, we remember St. Gerard Majella, the beloved “Mother’s Saint,” especially revered by expectant mothers, children, and the unborn. He is also honoured as the patron of childbirth and motherhood, the falsely accused, religious brothers, those seeking good confessions, and above all, as the joyful saint who radiated hope in every aspect of his life.
