From July 17 to 26, the 2026 edition of the Novena of Saint Anne took place, crowned by the great Feast of Saint Anne.
The turnout of pilgrims and visitors remained exceptional, as showed by the attendance of approximately 70,000 people spread over the nine days of the novena and the feast day on July 26.
The celebrations centered on the unifying theme “Do not fear; I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). Eight preachers took turns at the pulpit to deepen this theme through messages of hope. The visual effect of the lighthouse, chosen to represent this year’s event, left a deep impression on everyone—both the pilgrims present on site and the thousands of faithful who participated in the celebrations via online broadcasts. The Congregation’s prayers were also beautifully accompanied by a choir whose soulful hymns enriched the spiritual experience.
The images captured during the event reflect the richness and diversity of the celebrations:
Welcoming the pilgrims: The notable arrival of various groups, including First Nations delegations traveling aboard their colorful buses.
Solemn celebrations: Processions marking the start of the celebrations, gathering together numerous ministers and priests.
Torchlight processions: Thousands of people gathered each evening on the steps of the Basilica, creating moments of luminous and impressive contemplation.
Accessibility and support: The dedicated assistance of the Helpers of Saint Anne, who provided essential support to the many people in wheelchairs.
This year took on a particularly solemn character, as it marked the 50th anniversary of the Basilica’s consecration. This historic milestone was beautifully highlighted, notably when a seminarian carried the tintinnabulum—the papal symbol confirming the church’s status as a Basilica.
The success of such an event would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the entire Shrine team. Their sustained commitment ensured that this novena ran smoothly and was filled with magic.
Once again, this year, this culminating time of gratitude and tribute lauded to Saint Anne at her Shrine was a clear sign that our great saint continues to quench the spiritual thirst of our world through the infinite source of her favors, her graces, and her intercession through her Grandson, Jesus.
