During the ordination liturgy, Archbishop Pettipas offered his congratulations to Archbishop Duval and gave a deeply reflective homily on the sacred responsibilities of a bishop, emphasizing the three core duties of episcopal ministry: to sanctify, to teach, and to govern. Drawing from his own experience and the rich tradition of the Church, he spoke of the bishop’s call to be a servant leader rooted in Christ’s love, guiding the people of God with humility, clarity, and faithfulness.
Archbishop Jurkovič also congratulated Archbishop Duval and assured him and the faithful of Pope Leo’s spiritual closeness and prayerful support. He expressed gratitude for Archbishop Pettipas’s years of leadership, especially in the face of health challenges, and commended Archbishop Duval’s broad pastoral experience.
In his own thanksgiving message, Archbishop Duval expressed deep thanks to all those present—his family, fellow clergy, parishioners, and organizers— as well as those participating virtually. He has also asked everyone to pray for him, so that he might become a good and holy bishop, in order to serve the Lord’s flock well.
Congratulations, Archbishop Duval and we wish you all the best in your ministry!
