Fall One-Day Provincial Assembly

The Provincial Council is planning for a one-day virtual retreat day with John McTighe in the fall. With the Provincial Chapter in January 2027, we are not looking to have an in-person gathering in the fall, but an opportunity for the confreres to come to together for ongoing formation and retreat. The information for date, time frame, and theme will be confirmed over the summer. When the information communicated, we ask all the Confreres and Lay Missionaries of the Most Holy Redeemer to set the time aside to be present to one another as a Province for this opportunity for ongoing formation and retreat.

New assignments of some of the confrères

We would like to share with you updated information regarding some changes in the assignments and ministries of the confrères of the Province of Canada:

Fr. Bernard Gauthier, C.Ss.R. will be assuming the role of Pastor and Rector of St. Joseph’s Parish in Grande Prairie, Alberta, effective September 1, 2026;

Fr. Edward Eherer, C.Ss.R. will be resuming his role of Associate Pastor of St. Joseph’s Parish in Grande Prairie, Alberta, effective September 1, 2026;

Fr. Jean-Carlo François, C.Ss.R. will be assigned as a member of the Saint-Louis-de-Kent Community in New Brunswick and will be assuming the role of Pastor of the Elsipogtog Pastoral Unit, as well as neighbouring parishes in the vicinity;

Fr. Joseph Manh Thuong Nguyen, C.Ss.R. is now residing at Les Jardins de la Côte near the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. His new address is: 400 rue de l’Érablière, Beaupré, Québec G0A 1E0;

Noel Oco, C.Ss.R. will be assigned to serve as a Deacon at St. Teresa’s Parish in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, effective September 12, 2026, following his Perpetual Profession and Diaconal Ordination, and;

Benedict Nicholas, C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist student who has recently finished his studies in Texas, will be assigned to help with Ignite Ministry and St. Patrick's Parish in Toronto for his pastoral year, supervised by Fr. David Louch, C.Ss.R., Annette Donovan-Panchaud, and Fr. Thomas O'Rourke, C.Ss.R.

New logo of the Province of Canada

The Provincial Council has approved the adoption of a new logo for the Province of Canada, which was presented during the last Provincial Chapter. The Communications Office has prepared a variety of formats for different uses of the same logo. These formats will also be available in the secured area of the provincial website. Please contact the Communications Office of the Province for more information or for help in making a format that would suit your needs for your websites, correspondences, or bulletins at communications@redemptorists.ca.

Fraternal Visitation in Winnipeg and Saskatoon

Frs. Paul Vinh, C.Ss.R., and Ivel Mendanha, C.Ss.R. recently visited the Redemptorist communities in Winnipeg and Saskatoon as part of the General Government’s Fraternal Visitation to the Province of Canada. These communities are composed of confrères in the Byzantine Ukrainian Catholic rite. During both visits, they met and joined the local communities in celebrating the Divine Liturgy.

Second Novitiate in New Jersey

From June 15 to July 11, 2026, the Preparation for Final Vows Programme (the Second Novitiate) took place at the San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey. The two confreres participating in it were Noel Oco, C.Ss.R., from the Redemptorist Province of Canada, and Scott Partin, C.Ss.R., from the Denver Province. Both have completed their studies at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas, with a Master of Divinity, and have completed their pastoral year. Fr. Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., served as director of the programme. Please continue to pray for Noel and Scott as they prepare for their Perpetual Vows and Diaconate Ordination.

Redemptoristine Elections in Quebec

The Redemptoristine Community in Sainte-Thérèse de Blainville, QC has completed their elections and has elected Sister Chantal Lussier, O.Ss.R. as their Prioress. Sister Annie Labrecque, O.Ss.R. was also elected as Sub-Prioress, while Sister Marie-Hélène Bourdon, O.Ss.R. was elected Secretary. We continue to pray for our dear Sisters, for their mission and witness to their Order and our Congregation.
