Some evenings leave a mark on your heart, and Table for Two was one of them. This year, 18 guests gathered on February 6 at St. Patrick’s Church Hall for an evening devoted to connection, reflection, and meaningful bonds. Couples of all stages – from newly engaged to celebrating 60 years of marriage – enjoyed a precious space for private conversation and renewed connection.
The night was designed to foster meaningful conversations. Between courses, thoughtfully curated discussion prompts guided couples through reflections on their journey together, sparking laughter, memories and moments of heartfelt insight, with the simple joy of being fully present with one another.
A highlight of the evening was the witness shared by our very own Ignite Ministry Director, Annette Donovan-Panchaud, and her husband, Jim Panchaud, who joined us as guest speakers. In a heartfelt and authentic reflection, they spoke about their journey – from how they met and discerned marriage to the real challenges that have shaped their life together. Their testimony offered couples both inspiration and practical wisdom, reminding everyone present that lasting love is strengthened through perseverance, communication, and shared faith.
Food and hospitality played a central role. A talented team of volunteers brought their gifts of service to every detail of the evening. Fr. Santo Arrigo C.Ss.R. wowed guests with his exquisite culinary skills, while Fr. Tito Pascual C.Ss.R charmed the crowd as Master of Ceremonies. Fr. Ray Douziech C.Ss.R., Fr. Jean Carlo Francois C.Ss.R. and Fr. Marek Marszalek C.Ss.R. supported the kitchen and served wine with warmth and care.
Joining them were volunteers of all ages. Young volunteers, some as young as 12, shared how much they valued the opportunity to serve and witness love in action. Many reflected that the experience helped them see the beauty of relationships and the joy of contributing to something larger than themselves. Older volunteers, alongside young adults and students, worked seamlessly to provide a welcoming environment where guests felt celebrated and cared for. Every detail, from the table settings to the carefully prepared menu, reflected the care and dedication poured into making the evening special. Watching volunteers serve with such joy while couples shared stories across generations was a powerful reminder of why Ignite Ministry exists. In moments like these, love is not only celebrated – it is formed, witnessed and passed on.
Rooted in the Redemptorist charism of accompanying others with compassion and hope, Table for Two reflects a mission that extends beyond a single evening. It is about walking alongside couples in every season of life, reminding them that God’s faithful love sustains and strengthens relationships. As part of the Ignite Ministry team, we are reminded once again why this evening continues to matter – not simply for the beautiful meal or the thoughtful conversations, but for the quiet, powerful way love is witnessed and renewed in our community.
By the evening’s end, couples left with more than the satisfaction of sharing a great meal - they shared a renewed appreciation for one another and for the community that surrounds them. Table for Two continues to be a cherished tradition, reminding us that connection, care, and sacred moments create lasting memories. Here’s to next year, when love will again take centre stage, one conversation, one shared meal, and one unforgettable evening at a time.
