At the end of the mass, Fr. Dominic Thong thanked the Superior General and all the confreres present and the people for making this celebration of Thanksgiving memorable and special by their presence. He gave thanks to the Lord and sought the grace of the Redeemer that the Province of Vietnam will continue to grow in the spirit of Missionaries of Hope in the footsteps of the Redeemer.
The Redemptorists have been present in Vietnam since 1925, when three confrères from the former French-Canadian Province of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Fr. Hubert Cousineau, C.Ss.R., Fr. Eugène Larouche, C.Ss.R., and Br. Thomas Pierre Barnabe, C.Ss.R., began their mission there. At least sixty-six Canadian confrères came to Vietnam to preach the Good News to the poor and most abandoned, establishing communities and missions in several regions: Hue (French protectorate of Annam) on December 8, 1925; Hanoi (French protectorate of Tonkin) on September 29, 1928; Saigon (French Cochinchina) on June 24, 1933; Đà Lạt in 1951; Vũng Tàu in 1964; Hội An (Pays Moïs) in 1958; Nha Trang in 1959; and Châu Ổ in 1963.
The Province of Vietnam was officially established in 1964, having Our Lady of Perpetual Help as the Patron of the Province. As of 2025, the Province of Vietnam has 390 Redemptorists - 279 priests, 21 brothers, 12 deacons, and 78 students.
